One of PR News’ 2016 Rising PR Stars, Sam Howe currently serves as chief of staff of MSLGROUP Boston’s senior leadership team and leads its new business development function. In this role, he provides client engagement, service delivery, strategic communications and talent management counsel to current and prospective clients in the cybersecurity, healthcare, professional services and technology verticals.
During his previous tenure at FleishmanHillard, Mr. Howe cultivated a vast network of media and influencers within the national technology landscape, regularly helping to shape earned and social commentary for clients in the Boston, New York City, Silicon Valley and Washington, D.C., markets, among others. His counsel was integral to the creation of Booz Allen Hamilton’s Sports Analytics Practice as well as the launch of Visa Checkout. In addition, he successfully coordinated JetBlue’s issues management monitoring team during the worst winter storm cadence in New England history, as well as through the Malaysian Airlines and Germanwings incidents.
Before joining FleishmanHillard, Mr. Howe worked for the professional services practice of boutique PR agency Schneider Associates as well as the public relations unit of government relations consultancy O’Neill and Associates. He currently sits on the Young Professionals Board of the Big Sister Association of Greater Boston and is a member of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation’s New Frontier Network as well as the Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Young Professionals Group.
Mr. Howe graduated summa cum laude from the Boston University College of Communication with a Bachelor of Science degree in public relations and a concentration in religion, as well as completed a directed study in global account management. He is a recipient of the institution’s Blue Chip Award, given to College of Communication graduates who have excelled academically and professionally.
